Introducing you to Ace & Jig; one of our newest F/W '10 collections here at O&L.
The look is laid-back, the fabric is hand-loomed in India, and there are pockets on absolutely everything. Need I say more!

The designer scoop:
Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson met as NYC fashion design interns almost ten years ago. Transplants from Virginia Beach and Vancouver respectively, they bonded over their common love of antique textiles.

Cary and Jenna designed for Language NYC in 2001, having their hands in all aspects of the business. In 2004, they launched LaROK together and built the brand into a multi-million dollar venture. However, in 2007 they both left LaROK to refocus their energy on starting their own familes. After Cary gave birth to daughter Alice and Jenna had her son James, they felt the time had come to collaborate again. Thus, ace&jig was born.

New Styles. New Arrivals. James Jeans.

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

It's always a great day around here when there's a New James Jeans Delivery. Especially when we've been anticipating two new styles. Introducing....

Much love and anticipation for the new Twiggy Cargo. I mean, how great is this pant? It will go with everything. Move straight and very fashionably forward into Fall. And it doesn't hurt that your butt will look smoking it in too! Awesome Possum.

Okay, so our little future looking glass is showing us that the Boot Cut is back! Did it ever really die though!?! Because, to me it's always had this classic 70's vibe going to it, that is if you're sporting it with some motorcycle boots. I say, grab a crop tee shirt or a new denim button down, throw on something sparkly and vintage on your wrist or ears. Polish off those frye boots and walk around sporting a peace sign! You hot thing you!

... and we've got a huge replenishment of the always amazing China Doll and Black Cat!

From France, with love...

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Every summer when our Eze Sur Mer collection arrives, it has us day dreaming over to that little village in France where the collection derives from. It's pieces like these that have us wishing that summer will never ever end; the picnics, the bike rides, the ice cream... the lemonade- there is nothing like easy summer living. Sigh!

Seven Minutes With Heidi Merrick via. Elle.com

Heidi merrick
Heidi Merrick traded in styling and New York City for Santa Barbara beaches and designing her own collection about four years ago. We asked her what she'd want a girl to know about her as a person before buying her clothes.

I grew up surfing in Santa Barbara.
Heidi's surfing roots are so ingrained in her aesthetic that it's impossible for her to even articulate how much it plays into her collection. "I've lived in London and New York, but I just wanted to get back to that lifestyle from my childhood."

In fact, her dad's a surfboard shaper, and she likes to think of her business like his. "No matter how big he gets, he still shapes everything by hand...I like to run my studio like that, like an atelier. I'll always make the dresses and sew them and make the patterns and drape the fabric; it's so good for my mind, and kind of how I stay normal.

I'm really into geeky fantasy stuff.

A lot of Heidi's inspiration comes from traveling, but she seriously loves Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings. "I can't help but think about that stuff with almost everything I do, like "Does this look like a storm trooper?!"

I have a fantasty of running a Parisian house when I'm 50. }
We asked if she was perfectly satisfied running her own business, or if she ever thought about moving in another direction. Heidi sounds perfectly content for now, but she admitted to the occasional dream of moving to Paris, running an esteemed house and sending her daughter to the Sorbonne (the daughter that was born six months ago). She's even teaching her French!

Introducing: RagMarket Tee's

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Rag Market is a back to basics 'worry free' clothing concept, made with Peruvian Pima cotton. Align CenterEvery piece comes with its own rag doll too... how neat is that? Just a little something to help wash your worries away while wearing another great basic tee line. I'm sold!

First up.. the Jersey Crop top in white and black

Second.. the oversized Vneck tee in blush, nude, charcoal and black

Last but not least... the Dolman Scoop tee in white, blush, charcoal and black

*here's a photo to show you all the color options.
We thought we'd do a little 'short film' to introduce the RagDolls that go along with the new tee's from RagMarket. Though, in the process we discovered that we're WAY better at having fun rather than at film making. All in a days work... we hope you enjoy!
